The Fulbright Alumni Association of Trinidad and Tobago was inaugurated on Friday, August 2, 1996. Membership size: Approximately 270

Objectives

  1. Foster interaction among Fulbright Alumni in Trinidad and Tobago.
  2. Promote links with Fulbright Alumni at the regional and international levels.
  3. Enhance the professional development of its members by organizing and encouraging their participation in workshops, seminars, symposia and continuing professional development programs relevant to the needs of the members.
  4. Promote the ideals and spirit of Senator William Fulbright as embodied in the Fulbright Program.
  5. Foster nation building and regional integration among the countries of the Caribbean region.
  6. Assist in the recruitment, selection and orientation of Fulbright Fellows, including arranging pre-departure meetings and re-entry assistance, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and the Institute of International Education (IIE).
  7. Facilitate Fulbright Alumni from other regions on visits to, and travel within, the Caribbean region.
  8. Maintain relationship with other Fulbright Alumni Associations and their programs around the world.
  9. Undertake programs of action in accordance with the identified needs and problems of the Caribbean region.
  10. Do all other things incidental to and conducive to the attainment of the objectives of the Association.

Since its inception, FAATT has hosted a number of activities such as: lecture/discussions on Breast Cancer, AIDS, Domestic Violence; conferences on: Involving Communities in Disaster Risk Management: A Call to Action (September 2006); The Role of the  Fulbright Program in Promoting World Peace (November 2001); Preparing the Job Market for the 21st Century (November 1998); and What Language Do West Indians Speak (October 1996)
