DEPUTY CHIEF OF MISSION
Len Kusnitz
Mr. Kusnitz arrived in Trinidad in late August 2007 to begin his tour as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Prior to that, he had served overseas tours at various times in Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica and Guatemala. During his Washington tours, he worked as the Deputy Director in the Office of Brazilian and Southern Cone Affairs, as Deputy Director in the Office of Canadian Affairs, as an analyst in the Intelligence and Research Bureau, and as the “desk officer” for Angola. He also spent one year on a Rusk Fellowship teaching at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.
Mr. Kusnitz has a combined BA/MA in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University, an MA from the University of Chicago in International Relations, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago. He is the author of “Public Opinion and Foreign Policy: Americas China Policy, 1949-79” and a Pew Case Study on Guatemala.
He is married to Ann Reynolds Kusnitz. Their son, Joshua, is attending college. Mr. Kusnitz speaks Spanish.
