Reporting of Birth Abroad

To obtain a U.S. Consular Report of Birth Abroad for a U.S. citizen child born in Trinidad and Tobago, the U.S. citizen parents must bring the child to the Embassy with the original copy of the child's birth certificate, the parents' marriage certificate and any divorce decree(s) along with the U.S. parents' valid U.S. passports. In certain cases, proof of residence in the United States is required. Parents should be prepared to list specific dates (month/year) of physical presence both in and out of the United States.

Documentary evidence confirming a U.S. citizen parent's presence in the United States is also required.  Such documents include (but are not limited to) academic records, school transcripts, tax records, social security statements, and passport documentation of travel.

Applications for Reports of Birth are accepted from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, except U.S. and Trinidad and Tobago holidays.
