The Alejandro Aviles Quartet plays a unique blend of Latin flavored jazz and provides a unique take on some of the most popular and acclaimed jazz standards. The intimate and outdoor setting at the Chaconia will provide jazz lovers with the opportunity for an up close look and listen to this extremely talented group of musicians.
The U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Officer, Robert Skinner, noted, “The Embassy is very proud to bring such an excellent jazz quartet to Port of Spain this year. We think that anyone coming to the show will be very pleased with what they see and hear. We are very happy to be collaborating with the Patrons of Queen’s Hall on this program and look forward to a great evening of music.”
The Rhythm Road: America Music Abroad Program tours take place under the auspices of the U.S. Government through the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
New York City’s Jazz at the Lincoln Center organizes the tours and coordinates the auditions. Each year the six selected quartets of professional American jazz musicians travel to various countries in Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia to highlight this truly American form of musical expression and to foster mutual understanding between the United States and the countries that are visited.
Wynton Marsalis, Executive Director of Jazz at the Lincoln Center said “Music is the only true universal language with the power and spirit to bring people together. The Rhythm Road tour is a natural extension of our mission that brings jazz to as many people as possible in the name of universal friendship.”
