U.S. Embassy Hands Over Boats to T&T Coast Guard and Customs

On Friday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the heliport in Chaguaramas, United States Ambassador Dr. Roy L. Austin officially handed over five (5) boats valued at US$1.34 million to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and the Trinidad and Tobago Customs and Excise Department.

The Honourable Minister of National Security Mr. Martin Joseph and the Honourable Minister of Finance Mr. Conrad Enill received the vessels on behalf of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.

Two of the boats will be assigned to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and three will be used by the Trinidad and Tobago Customs and Excise Department to conduct maritime exercises. Ambassador Austin and Ministers Joseph and Enill delivered remarks after a signing ceremony. One boat from each division was then launched.

The United States Government is committed to providing assistance to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago by providing the resources necessary as it attempts to protect its coastlines and ports to assist in the reduction of criminal activity.
