United States and Trinidad and Tobago Conclude
“Beyond the Horizons 2009”
After providing free medical treatment to over 7,000 patients across Trinidad, the Beyond the Horizons 2009 partnership is set to officially conclude in a ceremony on August 20, 2009 at the Barrackpore East Secondary School.
This project concludes after nearly three months of service to Trinidad and Tobago’s citizens. Since its inception in early June, thousands of residents have received medical and dental attention from visiting U.S. medical teams, including cataract operations, tooth extractions and other medical procedures. Additionally, over 600 pairs of eyeglasses have been distributed during this time. Community centers in the following towns hosted U.S. teams: Toco, Matura, Valencia, Debe and San Fernando.
Apart from medical services, engineering support was provided to the following institutions to upgrade and restore facilities: Princess Elizabeth Center, ESHE School, St. Mary’s Orphanage, Children’s Home, Cascade School for the Deaf and Sacred Heart Girls School.
The closing ceremony will be held on Aug. 20, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Barrackpore School, and is open to the press.
