Non-Immigrant Visas

Transit Visas (C1)

Transit visas are necessary for individuals who must change planes or stop in the U.S. enroute to their final destination.  If you already have a B1/B2 visa, you do not need a transit visa.

Applicants for Transit Visas can apply at the Embassy between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, except for U.S. and Trinidad and Tobago holidays.  The requirements and applications procedures for a Transit Visa are discussed below.  General application procedures are also outlined in the How to Apply section of the website.

Application Requirements

Applicants for Transit Visas should bring the following documents to their interview:

  • A receipt from TT Post for the US$131 (TT$825.30) application fee;
  • A current passport as well as any previous passports containing U.S. visas;
  • A completed Electronic visa application form, or DS-156;
  • A completed Supplemental Non-Immigrant Visa Application form, or DS-157, for males ages 16 to 45;
  • One passport sized photo (2 inches by 2 inches) with a white background;
  • A valid itinerary; and
  • Additional information which demonstrates strong ties to Trinidad and Tobago, such as job letters and bank statements.

NOTE: Submission of any fraudulent document may render you permanently ineligible for a visa to the United States.
