Immigrant Visas

Visa Lottery

An annual diversity immigration program makes available each year by random selection 55,000 immigrant visas to people from countries with low rates of immigration to the U.S. Eligibility to apply for this Program is determined by a person’s place of birth, not citizenship.

For information about the e-DV program to be used to apply for the Diversity Visa in 2006, please visit the DV program web page at: http://www.dvlottery.state.gov

Warning!!!

There are reports that an e-mail message is being sent out to possible Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery recipients that claims to be from the United States Government. The e-mail informs applicants that they have been chosen as a DV recipient and that they need to send an acceptance fee of $349.67 via Western Union in order to continue with the process. Such e-mail messages are fraudulent and should not be taken seriously. The United States Government corresponds with DV winners only through regular mail, and applicants will never be informed that they are DV recipients via e-mail.
