Please note: In order to secure the safety of our applicants and to ensure that our security screening procedures do not delay or hinder entrance to the Embassy, no electronic devices, including cell telephones, may be brought into the Embassy. Weapons of any kind, large backpacks, suitcases and glass containers are also not permitted. We strongly recommend that these items be left at home or with a trusted individual since the U.S. Embassy cannot be held accountable for lost or stolen items. U.S. Visa Fee Changes: Immigrant and Non-Immigrant Visas
Non-Immigrant Visa Fees:
The U.S. Embassy advises the public that effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. This increase allows the United States to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process.
Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee before January 1 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before January 31.
Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the $31 difference before they can be interviewed.
All non-immigrant visa fees are to be paid via off-site collection at TT Post Offices.
Immigrant Visas:
Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. immigrant visa will increase from $335 to $355.
Applicants who paid the prior $335 application fee before January 1 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before January 31.
Applicants who paid the prior $335 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the $20 difference before they can be interviewed.
All immigrant visa fees must be paid at the Embassy at the time of the interview.

The U.S. Embassy would like to notify all potential visa applicants of the importance of applying for a U.S. visitors’ visa well in advance of the dates of intended travel. Our waiting period for a non-immigrant visa appointment is currently three weeks. This waiting period is likely to grow during the holiday rush. With early planning, individuals wishing to visit the U.S. during the Christmas holidays can avoid the inconvenience of being unable to secure a visa appointment before their planned travel date.

General Information
A person from another country that wishes to enter the United States (U.S.) must first obtain a travel document called a visa. There are many types of visas, but visas are divided into two groups: nonimmigrant and immigrant. A Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) is for a temporary stay, while an Immigrant Visa (IV) is for those who want to live in the U.S. permanently.
